The Moose Jaw Miller Express’ record fell to 4-4 after a pair of losses in Western Canadian Baseball League action over the weekend. 

Moose Jaw opened the weekend on Friday with a 14-2 loss to the Fort Murray Giants at Ross Wells Park. 

Joe Osborn and Owen Robbins picked up the RBIs for the Miller Express. Bo Jacob Garza took the loss on the mount. 

The Miller Express split the two-game set on Saturday against the Giants with a 12-11 win in extra innings. 

Moose Jaw jumped out to a 7-0 lead after four innings of play. Fort McMurray bounced back with four runs in the fifth inning and four runs in the sixth to take an 8-7 lead. 

Darren Hagan scored off an Austin Gurney double in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Miller Express tied up the game 8-8. 

Fort McMurray added a pair of runs in the top of the eighth inning to regain the lead. However, Gerritt Gulutzan and Nate Mensik scored off a Hagan single along with a Fort McMurray error to send the game into extra innings. 

Both teams put up a run in the 10th inning. In the 11th, Fort McMurray was unable to score with their at-bat, while Bobby Pokorney’s hit drove in the winning run. Takao Cookson picked up the win on the mound for Moose Jaw. 

The Miller Express finished off the weekend with a Sunday matinee at Ross Wells Park, where they dropped a 10-6 decision to the Weyburn Beavers. 

Moose Jaw let a 4-1 lead slip away. Weyburn scored three in the sixth inning and four in the seventh to go up 9-4. The Miller Express could only muster a pair of runs in the eighth, but Weyburn added one more run in the ninth. 

Elijah Bear went three-for-four at the plate for Moose Jaw, while Robert Estrada and Thomas Soto earned a pair of RBIs each. Declan O’Hare picked up the loss on the mound for the Miller Express. 

The next games for the Miller Express are Tuesday and Wednesday when they host the expansion Saskatoon Berries. Both games start at 7 p.m. at Ross Wells Park.
