The Moose Jaw Miller Express return to Ross Wells Park tonight riding plenty of momentum as they welcome the Saskatoon Berries for a key Western Canadian Baseball League matchup. The Millers have won seven straight games and will look to keep that streak alive in front of the home crowd when first pitch is thrown at 7:05 p.m.
Moose Jaw enters the contest with one of the league’s most explosive offenses, batting .309 as a team while scoring 136 runs through their first 14 games. Their aggressive style on the bases has also paid dividends, with the Millers stealing 50 bases, putting constant pressure on opposing defenses.
The offense has been led by Chris Franks, who has emerged as one of the WCBL’s most dangerous hitters. Franks is batting .449 with 22 hits, eight doubles, two home runs, and 24 RBIs in just 13 games. Thomas Soto continues to ignite the lineup with 22 runs scored and 16 stolen bases, while Ben Waliczek is hitting .348 and has crossed the plate 19 times this season.
On the mound, the Millers have received strong performances throughout the winning streak. Jordan Bauer owns a 2.16 ERA, Nathan Pisio has recorded two saves with a 3.68 ERA, and Jacob Glazener has piled up 32 strikeouts in 18 innings, giving Moose Jaw plenty of options to keep opposing hitters off balance.
The visiting Saskatoon Berries arrive with an offense capable of matching anyone in the league. Ethan Murdoch leads the attack with a .422 batting average, while Gavin Panks (.405) and Gael Salinas (.368) have also been major contributors. Nash Nichols has supplied the power with five home runs, making him a key bat the Millers will need to contain.
The Berries also feature a talented pitching staff led by Michael Sall and his 0.56 ERA, along with Jackson Fox (2.57 ERA), Brooks Jones (2.45 ERA), and Adam Korte (3.00 ERA), setting up what should be an outstanding battle between two of the WCBL’s top clubs.
With a seven-game winning streak on the line, the Miller Express will be looking to continue their hot play in front of the home fans. Expect an exciting matchup featuring two high-powered offenses and plenty of playoff-like intensity as Moose Jaw looks to keep rolling.
