The Moose Jaw Miller Express return to Ross Wells Park tonight looking to continue their outstanding season as they welcome the Medicine Hat Mavericks for the opener of a two-game set. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. in what promises to be another important East Division matchup.
The Miller Express enter tonight with one of the best records in the Western Canadian Baseball League at 35-13, having won eight of their last 10 games. Moose Jaw continues to lead the league offensively, scoring 423 runs while posting a team batting average of .314.
Fans will once again have plenty to watch offensively. Eduardo Saenz leads the club with a .385 batting average, while Chris Franks continues to produce in the middle of the lineup with a .354 average, 50 RBIs and 16 stolen bases. Fresh off becoming the WCBL’s all-time single-season stolen base leader, Thomas Soto enters tonight hitting .347 with 45 stolen bases and continues to be one of the most exciting players in the league.
Medicine Hat arrives with plenty of offensive talent of its own. Carter Roth leads the Mavericks with a .338 batting average, while Frankie Giacalone has provided plenty of power with 11 home runs. The Mavericks will be looking to spoil the party as they continue their push toward the postseason.
