The Moose Jaw Miller Express are preparing for one of the biggest events of the 2026 season as they host the Medicine Hat Mavericks in a special Canada Day Doubleheader on Wednesday at Ross Wells Park.
The holiday celebration begins with Game 1 at 4:00 PM, with the second seven-inning game scheduled to follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the opener. Fans attending will receive admission to both games with a single ticket purchase, making it one of the best entertainment values of the summer.
The Miller Express enter the Canada Day festivities with a 14-8 record, sitting near the top of the highly competitive WCBL East Division standings. Moose Jaw has established itself as one of the league’s top offensive clubs and will look to continue its strong play in front of what is expected to be one of the largest crowds of the season.
Offensive Firepower Leads the Way
The Miller Express lineup has been fueled all season by standout performances throughout the batting order.
Outfielder Chris Franks continues to be one of the most dangerous hitters in the WCBL, entering Canada Day with a .365 batting average and 28 RBI. Franks has delivered in the biggest moments all season, including a memorable seven-RBI performance against Swift Current earlier this month.
Meanwhile, Garryn Plummer has been a consistent force at the plate, carrying a .367 batting average, while William Edwards has contributed 21 RBI to help power the Moose Jaw offense.
No player has created more havoc on the basepaths than Thomas Soto, whose 23 stolen bases rank among the league leaders. Soto has combined speed with production, posting a .328 batting average while scoring runs and putting constant pressure on opposing defenses.
Strong Arms Key for Moose Jaw
On the mound, the Miller Express continue to receive outstanding performances from their pitching staff.
Jacob Glazener has emerged as one of the WCBL’s premier strikeout pitchers, piling up more than 30 strikeouts while helping anchor the starting rotation. Meanwhile, veteran right-hander Westin Walls has provided quality innings and leadership throughout the season.
Familiar Foe Comes to Town
The Medicine Hat Mavericks have already provided plenty of excitement against Moose Jaw this season. The clubs split a memorable series in early June that featured plenty of offense.
With both teams battling for important East Division points, fans can expect another entertaining chapter in what has quickly become one of the WCBL’s most exciting rivalries.
A Canada Day Celebration at the Ballpark
Beyond the action on the field, Wednesday’s doubleheader promises to be one of the most memorable events of the summer.
The Miller Express will wear special edition Canada Day jerseys and hats, with the game-worn jerseys to be auctioned off following the doubleheader. Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase limited-edition Canada Day Miller Express hats while supplies last.
The special Canada Day event is proudly sponsored by the Moose Jaw Kinsmen Club, and fans are encouraged to wear their red and white and help Pack the Park.
