MOOSE JAW, SK – The Moose Jaw Miller Express continue to make history in 2026, and on Tuesday night it was Thomas Soto who etched his name into the Western Canadian Baseball League record book.
With his 43rd stolen base of the season, Soto became the WCBL’s all-time single-season stolen base leader, surpassing the previous league record during the Miller Express’ 8-2 victory over the Swift Current 57’s. He finished the night 2-for-4 with an RBI and three stolen bases, leading another outstanding performance by Moose Jaw.
The record is the latest accomplishment in what has been a remarkable season for the dynamic infielder. Soto’s speed, instincts and aggressive approach on the basepaths have made him one of the league’s most exciting players and a constant challenge for opposing pitchers and catchers.
Every time Soto reaches base, he creates opportunities. His ability to turn a walk or single into an immediate scoring threat has been a key factor in the Miller Express’ success throughout the season.
“It’s a tremendous accomplishment for Thomas and one that’s a reflection of the work he puts in every day,” said the Miller Express coaching staff. “His speed changes games, but it’s his preparation, baseball IQ and determination that have allowed him to reach this milestone.”
The milestone came during another important victory for Moose Jaw. Combined with Saskatoon’s loss, the Miller Express extended their lead atop the WCBL East Division standings as they continue their push toward the postseason.
While individual records are celebrated, Soto has consistently put the team’s goals first throughout the season. His energy at the top of the lineup, relentless hustle and ability to create offense have helped fuel one of the league’s top clubs.
The entire Miller Express organization congratulates Thomas Soto on becoming the Western Canadian Baseball League’s all-time single-season stolen base leader—a historic achievement that will stand as one of the greatest individual accomplishments in franchise and league history.
Congratulations, Thomas!
